PROFESSIONAL IMAGING / CAMERAS / PANOCAM / OVERVIEW
PanoCam – the logical developmental progression from the previous century’s film-based panoramic photography.
State-of-the-art digital technology and highly optimised workflows contribute to images of unprecedented quality – with reduced time and expense.

Technology
The camera captures a panorama by rotating around its vertical axis while a CCD sensor inside samples the scene, strip by vertical strip. The digitised image data is sent via a USB link to a notebook computer, where it is displayed in real time and stored on the computer’s hard disk.

This technology offers numerous clear advantages. There is no film to develop, no negative scanning and stitching discrete images together. It eliminates geometrical and chromatic aberrations. A panoramic exposure takes less than a minute under average lighting conditions

Operation
With its combination of high build quality and intelligent software, the PanoCam delivers convincing performance in the field.

The camera itself has no controls. Everything is operated from the notebook computer, which clamps directly to tripod leg with the same ease as the external rechargeable camera battery pack. The notebook’s display doubles as the camera viewfinder, for a true WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) preview within seconds. From the notebook, you can adjust camera exposure settings, or pause a scan for as long as you need.

Image Quality
Our cameras have a vertical resolution of 5300-plus pixels. Since it is the focal length of your chosen lens alone that determines the horizontal resolution, you can shoot panoramic images with several hundred Megapixels and 48-bit colour depth in a single pass. Image data from the camera can be used for anything from a conventional cropped view, through online virtual tours, to high-end CD-ROM and large-format printing applications: PanoCam high-resolution scans are the perfect source material for creating a whole range of finished products!
