UK Cambridge based University invest in Spheron’s latest Forensic Crime Scene Technology
Spheron-VR AG, known globally as pioneers in HDR (High Dynamic Range) camera technology and experts in visual content management software is pleased to announce a new customer, the Cambridge-based Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) whom are now implementing the latest SceneWorks® forensic technologies within their forensic science labs. The technology will be used to both advance the education of forensic students and to innovate how crime scenes are investigated.
ARU run undergraduate and post graduate courses within Forensic and Investigative studies, within the Faculty of Science and Engineering, School of Life Sciences. ARU have invested in both the latest SceneCam® 2.0 camera equipment for the record & capture of their Crime Scene teaching scenarios as well as putting into operation the latest version of the SceneCenter® forensic software.
Spheron's SceneWorks® technology is a full crime scene management and documentation system which is used to improve the clarity and communication of crime scene evidence. Investigators can quickly and easily record a real crime scene to produce a digital twin, assemble a case within a 3D virtual experience, collaborate with others via a secure multi-user online visual database and even present it as part of the evidence in a court.
The SceneWorks® forensic technology is to be housed in the University's new £45m Cambridge Science Centre which comprises of high-tech teaching and research laboratory and facilities for educating students & researchers in areas such as forensic and crime sciences.

ARU and the staff delivering the programmes believe it is vital to teach the future investigators & practitioners the most up-to-date digital processes to ensure forensic evidence is captured & stored correctly to conform to ISO standards (such as ISO 17025 & 17020). We trust this technology will assist ARU to further educate these latest processes & techniques in crime investigation and forensic science. The software enables us to deliver further blended learning and enhances our authentic assessments reflecting the fast paced, evolving world of crime investigation and forensic science. The Faculty of Science and Engineering will benefit from this technology in different fields for a variety of uses.’
The solution allows authorized personnel to explore a crime scene remotely, to exchange information and to update it instantly with new evidence offering ‘real-time forensics’. Users can also take 3D measurements directly from the photographic imagery. It increases objectivity and efficiency and so more case documentation can be handled in less time.
